Standoff at hotel following possible burglary

Police search the area outside a hotel in Buckhead Thursday morning

ATLANTA -- Atlanta Police have set up a perimeter around a Buckhead hotel where a suspected burglar is believed to be holed up.

Guests have been told to stay in their rooms at the Country Inn & Suites and Towne Place Suites on Sidney Marcus Boulevard off Ga. 400.

Atlanta SWAT teams have arrived to assist police with the situation.

Police said the suspect fled into one of the hotels after a pursuit on Georgia 400. He is described as a 6-foot-1-inch tall black male wearing a dirty white shirt and blue jeans. Police said he may be armed.

Southbound traffic on Georgia 400 is not being allowed to exit on Sidney Marcus Boulevard as a result of the police activity. Southbound motorists will have to follow Georgia 400 into I-85 southbound.
