ATLANTA -- Most AT&T U-verse customers who lost service this week now have it back. The company says they expect to fix the problem completely later Thursday morning.
"We know our customers count on their U-verse service, and we apologize for the inconvenience." AT&T spokesperson Lance M. Skelly said in a statement. "We will provide a credit to customers who were affected."

Complaints have shown up on Twitter, Facebook and on message boards across the web since early Tuesday. At first the outage was thought to be confined to the Southeast, but later reports indicated outages as far away as Texas and California.
AT&T officials released an email statement Wednesday afternoon, and said that less than 1 percent of their U-verse customers were being affected by outages. They said they were working on a solution for the problems.
"AT&T customers in some of our markets are experiencing issues with U-verse service. This issue currently affects less than one percent of our U-verse subscribers, but that is too many and we are working hard to fix this. We are making progress in resolving the issue which is related to servers supporting U-verse, and are working to determine when service will be completely restored. We apologize for this inconvenience," the statement said.
According to the New York Times, AT&T says the outage is related to a "faulty software upgrade."
While some areas had seen service restored, customers in many areas said service had been out for 24 hours or more.
