DECATUR, Ga. -- DeKalb County CEO Burrell Ellis has hired two criminal defense attorneys following searches of his Stone Mountain home and county office last week.

11Alive News has learned former DeKalb County District Attorney J. Tom Morgan and Craig Gillen will hold a news conference at noon Thursday to announce their representation of Ellis.

Ellis has not been charged with any crimes and maintains he has done nothing wrong.

He was testifying before a special grand jury investigating possible corruption in the water and sewer department when investigators with the District Attorneys office executed search warrants at his home and office on January 7.

The warrants indicated they were looking for evidence of possible crimes, including bribery and corruption.

"The search warrants are very broad and general. They list almost every vendor who's done business in DeKalb County," said J. Tom Morgan during an interview on 11Alive News Today before he was hired by Ellis. "We shouldn't read too much into this, other than the fact that a judge has signed a warrant."

Morgan also represents Andrea Sneiderman, who faces murder charges in the death of her husband Rusty in Dunwoody in 2010.
