Jamie Hood's latest incompetency bid rejected

ATHENS, Ga. -- Jamie Hood, who was found competent to stand trial in the killing of an Athens-Clarke County police officer, wants a new hearing, but a judge rejected the request.

Wednesday, a Clarke County Superior Court judge rejected Jamie Hood's request for another competency hearing.

Although Hood has already been found competent for trial, his lawyers have said their client is paranoid and suffers from delusions.

The judge called Hood a difficult client for his lawyers to deal with, but said that does not mean he is incompetent to stand trial.

Hood is accused of killing Officer Elmer "Buddy" Christian and wounding Officer Tony Howard in March 2011.
