Northside Parkway reopens after gas leak

ATLANTA -- Northside Parkway on the Cobb/Fulton line has reopened after being shut down due to a ruptured gas main.

The four-inch main was broken early Thursday morning by a construction crew working near the intersection of Northside Parkway and Northgate Drive, just south of the Chattahoochee River. 

Atlanta Fire Department sealed off the area and Atlanta Gas Light crews managed to contain the leak. Traffic was blocked off in both directions for about four hours. 

Fortunately, no homes or businesses were threatened and no one was forced to evacuate.
