ATLANTA -- New safety measures will be put in place to protect runners and bikers on Atlanta's BeltLine.

One concern is the lack of addresses along the trail. The Atlanta Police Department plans to add mile markers, and maybe even quarter-mile markers, to the BeltLine to make it easy for users to determine their location.
The success of this new initiative lies in BeltLine users being aware of where they are on the trail.
"We just ask that citizens be aware and they know which street they last crossed over or which access point they last passed," said Atlanta Police Capt. D. Brent Schierbaum.
Police also plan to add new security cameras and launch more bicycle patrols on the BeltLine.
