ACWORTH, Ga. -- The woman accused with kidnapping an 8-month-old boy spent Wednesday night in jail after a frightening ordeal.
Samantha Nicole Barrett had her first appearance in Henry County Magistrate Court at 8:30 a.m. Thursday. She is accused of abducting William Kaidyn Stover Tuesday night.
Stover was reunited with his mom Wednesday afternoon, safe and sound.
The abduction ended south of Atlanta, where Henry County Police Officer Joey Smith said police chased the stolen car with the infant inside on Highway 36, just off Interstate 75.

Police said a driver on I-75 saw the suspect's car, recognized it from the AMBER Alert's description and called 911.
Patrol officers tried to pull Barrett over. She stopped the Taurus at one point, allowing passenger Corey Patillo to jump out.
Police interviewed Patillo but concluded he had nothing to do with the abduction.
"She kept telling me he was her baby," Patillo said. "I didn't know what to think."
He said when police got behind Barrett on the interstate, he kept telling her to pull over, but she wouldn't stop.
"So I put the car in neutral and grabbed the wheel. We went to the side of the road," Patillo said.
Barrett then returned to the highway, and drove away from officers at speeds of nearly 100 mph.
An officer deployed stop sticks to deflate the tires on Barrett's car, which slid off of the roadway. Police then apprehended Barrett and rescued Stover.

Stover was reported abducted from a home on Commanche Drive in Acworth, At the time, 22-year-old Barrett stole a gray 2003 Ford Taurus with the child inside.

Bartow County Sheriff Clark Millsap said Wednesday that Stover's mother, Kristen Howard and Barrett have friends for a couple years.
The reason for the argument between the two women, and why Barrett took the baby remains unclear.
Officers dug into Barrett's connections in Bartow and Cobb counties. Millsap said she was arrested on methamphetamine charges in 2009.
Howard was reunited with her baby boy on Wednesday afternoon. Like Pattillo, she too was questioned before being released.
Investigators said they believe Stover slept through much of the ordeal.
