LOS ANGELES -- Two men were taken into custody after a shooting outside a Halloween party in the center of campus at the University of Southern California Wednesday night left four people wounded.

According to KNBC, USC Department of Public Safety assistant chief John Thomas said a dispute between two non-students led to the 11:45 p.m. shooting.

After the shooting, campus police shut down the campus and issued an alert telling students to remain indoors and to "shelter in place," said a report from The Daily Trojan.

The party was being held in the Tutor Campus Center's ballroom and, according to The Daily Trojan, drew a crowd of about 1,500 people.

The Los Angeles Times quoted a web statement from USC's vice president for student affairs, Michael L. Jackson, which said campus security was monitoring the party, witnessed the shooting and was quickly able to apprehend the suspects.

Students said that more than 100 people were outside the facility when the shooting happened.

The lockdown was lifted several hours later, and a Web statement said classes would continue as scheduled on Thursday.
