Food processing plant to create 200 jobs

GAINESVILLE, Ga. -- Dawsonville-based food processing company Gold Creek Foods plans to expand its plant in Gainesville and add 200 jobs in 2013.

The company is also asking the Hall County Planning Department to rezone two lots it plans to purchase next to its newly remodeled facility.

About 160 people work at the plant that processes an average of 363,000 pounds of chicken a week.

The facility is on the site of an old Pilgrim's Pride hatchery.
