Briarcliff Road closed by gas leak

ATLANTA -- A gas main break shut down a major DeKalb County road overnight.

The gas leak was reported on Briarcliff Road at North Druid Hills Road.

DeKalb County Fire Battalion Chief Douglas Brown said the six-inch gas main was completely severed when crews hit the line.

There was no immediate word on when the road would reopen. Brown said the gas leak never reached a dangerous level.
