International Space Station taken through a telescope from the ground. (NASA)
ATLANTA -- The International Space Station will be visible to metro Atlanta residents Thursday evening for about two minutes as it flies overhead.
The space station will cross the sky from northwest to southeast over the sky starting at 9:41 p.m., NASA says. The space station will look like a fast-moving plane that will zip across the heavens.
With a pair of strong binoculars or a telescope, the spot resolves to the shape of the space station, orbiting about 230 miles from the surface of the Earth. NASA says the space station is about the size of a football field.
NASA provides a website that will allow skywatchers to find out when the space station will pass overhead -- http://spotthestation.nasa.gov/.
