A DeKalb County officer removes a hawk from the grill of a minivan

TUCKER, Ga. -- A driver got a surprise when a hawk got stuck in the grill of his minivan Thursday morning.

The bird flew into the man's car as he was driving in Tucker at around 6:45 a.m.

Dispatchers said the driver pulled over in the area of Mountain Industrial Boulevard and Stone Mountain Highway, and called 911.

DeKalb County Police and Animal Control officers arrived and removed the hawk from the car's grill. They planned to take the bird to Gwinnett Animal Hospital, but it died before it could be transported.
