Severe storms possible in Georgia Thursday

(WXIA) -- According to the Storm Prediction Center, much of Georgia has been placed into a "slight risk" area for severe weather Thursday.

Heavy rain, frequent lightning, high winds and large hail are possible in the area, which includes metro Atlanta.

According to 11Alive Meteorologist Chesley McNeil, showers and thunderstorms are possible over the area especially into the afternoon hours. Any of those storms could become severe.
