FULTON COUNTY, Ga. -- A mother is crediting a smoke detector with saving her family from a fire Thursday morning.
The blaze broke out at around 4:30 a.m. at an apartment on Camp Creek Drive in south Fulton County.
College Park Fire Battalion Chief Brian MacGregor White said the fire was contained to one apartment, which had a working smoke detector.
The resident, Denise Butler, said the fire broke out in her son's bedroom. A smoke detector woke her up and allowed her to get her children out of the apartment.
No one was injured and no other apartments were affected. Investigators are now trying to determine the cause of the fire.
