CARROLLTON, Ga. (WXIA) -- Carrollton Police have reported that 5-year-old Lealand Hill has been found safe, and that a suspect has been taken into custody.
They said the vehicle they were looking for was pulled over on Highway 113.
Police had been looking for little Lealand, and said that he had been abducted at 5 a.m., Thursday from the home of his grandmother on Cottage Court in Carrollton.
Police told 11Alive's Rebecca Lindstrom that Lealand's grandmother has legal custody of Lealand and his brother, and that Christopher Fields, the boys' father, had spent the night.
Investigators said that in the early hours Thursday, Fields awakened and took Lealand from the home. A deputy spotted a car matching the description of Fields' on Highway 113 at Northside Drive in Carrollton and pulled it over without incident.
Fields, little Lealand and an unidentified woman were in the car.
Investigators said Fields has a drug habit, which boosted their concern for Lealand's safety.
