Former DeKalb County Schools Chief Operating Officer Pat Reid
DECATUR, Ga. -- A DeKalb County Superior Court jury has found former school chief operating officer Pat Reid and her ex-husband Tony Pope guilty on racketeering charges.
Reid was also found guilty on one of two theft-by-taking charges, in connection with accusations that she had illegally had school employees to repair a car that she had planned to purchase. Pope was found not guilty on theft-by-taking charges.
When the verdict was read, Reid sat grim-faced. Pope hung his head.
Former DeKalb County Schools Superintendent Crawford Lewis pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor obstruction charge in mid-October.
Sentencing is expected within two to four weeks, and the judge in the case asked that Lewis be available to be sentenced at the same time.
