Burglars drive van into DMV building

EAST POINT, Ga. -- Smash and grab burglars crashed a van into a south Fulton County Department of Motor Vehicles building Thursday morning.

The accident happened at around 4:30 a.m. at the DMV on Welcome All Road.

Investigators on the scene said the suspects backed the van through a window. About five people grabbed two ATMs and then got away in a waiting U-Haul.

Police believe the suspects made off with about $5,500.

No one was hurt in the burglary.

An abandoned U-Haul was found at around 6:30 a.m. in the woods near Carver Circle off Tiger Flowers Drive. Police are working to determine if it is the U-Haul used in the burglary.
