Fatal tractor trailer wreck shuts down I-85 in Troup County

TROUP COUNTY, Ga. -- A fatal accident involving a tractor trailer fire completely shut down Interstate 85 north in Troup County Thursday morning.

The accident happened at around 6:30 a.m. near Mile Post 18.

Dispatchers said the tractor trailer was fully engulfed in flames when crews arrived. At least one person was killed.

The cause of the accident is under investigation.

I-85 north is shut down at the scene.
