25 designer purses stolen in Lenox smash and grab

ATLANTA -- Smash and grab burglars stole about 25 purses from the Salvatore Ferragamo store at Lenox Square Thursday morning.

Atlanta police were alerted of the burglary shortly after midnight.

When officers arrived, they discovered the store's glass door smashed, according to Atlanta Police Sgt. Greg Lyon.

The thieves got away with about $42,000 worth of merchandise.

Security cameras in the Lenox parking lot captured images of a two-tone dark-colored SUV driving up to the mall's rear door, and of the suspects smashing the store's glass door.

The burglary is under investigation.
