GLENDALE, Ariz. -- A 16-year-old girl arrested in Glendale, Ariz., on Saturday in connection with strangling her 43-year-old boyfriend during sexual activities will face trial as an adult after the Maricopa County Attorney's Office agreed to charge her with second-degree murder, according to court documents.

Glendale police say Jessica Burlew used an electrical wire to choke Jason Ash during sexual activities. When Ash seemed to have passed out, Burlew told officers she cut him with a razor to get him to respond. She told officers that she continued to cut him to relieve her own stress, according to the documents.
Ash was declared dead at about 5:45 p.m., according to the documents.
Burlew told police she and Ash would often engage in these types of activities prior to sex, according to the documents.
Her mother, Tracey Woodside, told police her daughter had called her and said Ash was dead. Woodside said she met Burlew at their home near Olive and 63rd avenues and saw Ash dead on the bed while fully clothed with unbuttoned pants, according to the documents.
Woodside went to the neighbor's apartment and used his cellphone to call the police, according to documents. She performed CPR on Ash until emergency responders arrived.
Burlew had left the apartment, according to the documents. She called the neighbors to try to speak with her mother and gave the name "Xenia Mex," according to the documents. She told an officer she was scared but refused to return to the apartment, according to the document.
A person wearing a burka walked by the crime scene and entered the neighbor's apartment, according to the document. The neighbor approached police and said the person was Burlew.
